Combined Science in English D
YEAR PLAN 2008-2009 English D Combined Science Hector Robinson
AIMS:
to give the students a wider knowledge of, and interest in, Science and to develop their understanding through practical experiments. Emphasis will be placed on the vocabulary involved.

BOOKS: Starting Science (Fraser & Gilchrist), Books 2 & 3.

ORGANISATION:
The whole class works on the same topic together. The theory is explained to the class, with use of SMART board presentations.
Practical experiments illustrate the topics covered in the books, carried out in as small groups as possible (usually of 4).
A science notebook will be kept with vocabulary, records of experiments, diagrams, etc. A folder will be provided for supplementary worksheets. More able students are challenged with extension material.

ASSESSMENT
A written assessment will be made at the end of each topic. Students will also be graded on presentations and lab journals.
