RULES AT B.I.S.

Every child has the right to learn in a safe, caring environment and everyone at school has the responsibility to ensure that this is enforced. No one has the right to disrupt the learning of others.

Arriving at School

Do not come late for class, this disturbs the rest of the class and interrupts the teaching programme. Any students arriving after the register has closed without good reason will be recorded as late.

Only students who have lessons at 8:15 can enter the school by the office entrance from 8:00. When the lesson starts the door is closed.

Students who have lessons from 9:00 can enter the school through the door to the playground from 8:50.

The playground gate is open from 8:00 so you can stand under the open shed in case of rain.

No games in the playground or hall before 9.00 and after school as teaching is in progress for many students.
Playtime starts in the little break 9.45 - 10.45 and again at 11.30 - 12.15.

We ask the parents and others to be considerate when leaving and picking up the children.
Please wait outside the glass doors leading to the big hall in order not to disturb the students who still have lessons.

At school

There is no school uniform but we expect our students to dress appropriately for working at school, which will not offend or distract others from learning therefore:
• Caps (and other non-religious head gear) are not allowed in class.
• Do not wear shoes in the A-corner (with the mattresses).
• Students should not bring roller-skates / scooters/ skateboards etc. to school.

The School insurance does not cover students' possessions while on the school site.
• Mobile phones and valuables must be handed in to the office in the morning and picked up after school hours.
In case of emergency the students can use the phone in the office.

We want our students to be healthy and safe while they are at school.
• Do not run indoors
• Students are not allowed to leave the school during school hours. Only E-class students with a written permission can leave the school from 11:30-12:00.
• Students should not bring pets to school (unless there is an agreement between the school and the home. We have quite a few persons with allergies!).
• Sweets are not allowed in the school (ONLY for birthdays/end-of-terms/goodbye parties you can share with the class in the classroom, not outside).
• The students´ toilet by the office can only be used by students whose class is at that end of the school.

We want to keep the school clean and equipment and materials should be looked after by the students.
• Students are not allowed in the computer room or library without a teacher.
• Chewing gum is not allowed in the school.

Absence due to illness:
We ask parents to call the school in the morning if their child is sick.
This way we do not have to worry about anything having happened to them on their way to school.

All other absences:
Urgent dentist's or doctor's appointments must be written in the contact book to notify the class teacher.

Absence from school outside the school holidays can only be granted if the parents have permission from the Principal.

ALL students leave the school after their last lesson (siblings too).
