English in DD Years 6 and 7 2008-9

Students will work in differentiated groups developing English according to their ability.

- They will be encouraged to develop an open and analytical attitude to their own progress through regular consultations with their teacher to develop work plans and evaluate progress.
- Focus will be on developing confidence and fluency in spoken and written English.
- There will be weekly circle time lessons during which students will present and discuss work completed.
- There will be computer on- line classes during which students will visit BBC Children's News to read recent book and film reviews plus contribute personal comments to chat sites with other English speaking students.
- Students will read a number of texts from Abracadabra Engelsk for syvende klasse and Blue Cat for syvende

Themes: Australia, Family Life, Children At Work Themes will be explored creatively and used as a basis for grammar and writing tasks.

Writing
Students will write a little in a learning diary each lesson to develop spelling, punctuation, capitalization and paragraphing skills.
They will write summaries of texts read.
Letter writing and note taking will be practiced.
