Art in English D
Art and Design in English D 2009/2010. Anne Voulund.


Aim-

To develop the use of their sketchbooks and show the development of their ideas.
To make them aware that a piece of art work requires thought , planning, effort and revision.
To record observations, ideas, pattern and colour.
To build on previous skills and experiences in using a variety of materials.
To develop the skill of looking at artwork of different periods and gain inspiration from artists of the past.
To increase their art vocabulary and orally evaluate their own work and that of others.

Method-

They will work individually and in groups.
They will develop observational drawing skills by working from a variety of original sources, applying shading and highlights using different pencils, charcoal graphite sticks and pastels.
They will develop their painting skills using a variety of media.
They will learn about composition, perspective and colour theory.
They will interpret a theme, by investigating, researching and developing their ideas.
They will work in recycle paper.
They will work with clay and make sculptures.

Topics will include:

Lettering. A study of type faces and logo design. Calligraphy.
Tone and form.
Pattern in design.
Paper sculpture
Insects.
Reflections
Tile sets.
Fruit cross-sections..
Motif use in design.
