Art and Craft
• Aims: to experience a variety of media and learn how to use them in different ways.
• paint - water colours, acrylic paint, finger paints.
• printing, pattern making, stencils, symmetry, picture making
• paper - different thicknesses, tissue paper, crepe paper, wallpaper, magazines
• cutting, sticking, printing, crafting, folding, in 2 dimensions.
• Thicker paper, cardboard boxes and plastic, packaging materials, junk…
• model making in 3 dimensions, science projects.
• textiles - collage , sewing simple gifts, designing and making embroidery patterns, weaving, knitting and crochet
• Natural materials - wood, clay, shells, leaves, straw,
• model making, collage, printing.
These media will be experimented with , in order to learn different techniques. We will then create works which will illustrate and reinforce the activities in our topics:
Topic 1 – Myself and My family
Picture of our own faces, observing carefully : crayon and pastels
Family portraits from photos :paper collage in a frame
Making flags accurately from 2 –d shapes
Topic 2 – Animal Families
An animal family (mammal) in its natural environment -3 d collage.and paint
Groups of fish, reptiles birds and amphibians with labels of special features
Topic 3 –Seasons:
Summer:
Painted pictures of the Local lake and woods in summer time.
Autumn
Leaves and bark –prints and rubbings
Trees shapes and silhouettes
Topic 4 – Textiles
Patterns on textiles – fabric printing
Weaving – with paper and a variety of threads and materials.
Knitting – either with needles or "French knitting" or" Finger knitting"
Simple embroidery
A Christmas gift to take home. from one of these techniques.
